GRAND JUNCTION — More than 400 people attended a memorial service for a retired Grand Junction teacher who was shot and killed a week earlier for reasons that still haven’t been explained.

Floyce Gallagher, 60, was remembered Saturday as a tough but dedicated teacher who chose to help struggling high school students. Friends also recalled her irreverent wit.

Gallagher and dentist Terry Fine were killed Oct. 11 in Fine’s driveway as they were leaving on vacation with their spouses.

Fine’s wife, Linda, and a neighbor were wounded.

Police identified the shooter as 22-year-old Stefan Alexander Martin-Urban, who committed suicide. Investigators haven’t disclosed a motive.

Martin-Urban was an Alaska native who was staying with a relative in Lakewood.
