WINDSOR, Colo.—Volunteers have planted 200 trees in Windsor to replace nearly 3,500 that were destroyed by a tornado last May.
About 375 volunteers planted the new trees on Saturday in Main Park and in Lakeview Cemetery.
The May 22 tornado killed one person, destroyed nearly 80 homes and damaged about 770 others. Also destroyed were 400 trees in public places and 3,000 on private property.
On Saturday, volunteers from Windsor, Greeley, Loveland and elsewhere planted elms, honey locusts, pines and other types of trees.
The Windsor Tree Board plans another tree planting in the spring on public and private property.
