The University of Denver plans to build a $6.3 million, 2,000-seat soccer stadium and a strength and conditioning center.
The stadium will have lights, and the field will be natural grass. The complex will include a practice field with a synthetic surface.
It will be built near the existing soccer field on the DU campus and is expected to open in time for the 2009 season. The university said Tuesday construction will start in February.
The strength and conditioning center will serve the university’s 17 varsity athletic programs. The 10,000- square-foot complex will include warm-up areas, cardio, rehabilitation and weightlifting stations, a video room and a 60-yard turf field for speed and agility training.
