The Colorado Springs-based Cheyenne Mountain Chapter has been given Trout Unlimited’s Gold Trout Award, the highest honor for a local chapter of the conservation organization.

The Springs chapter specifically was cited for its work with the “Trees for Trout” habitat project on the South Platte River and Tarryall Creek, for its involvement in “Project Healing Waters,” a program to rehabilitate disabled military personnel, and in the “Casting for Recovery” support program for women with breast cancer.

Youth clinics.

Clinics in Colorado Springs and Limon will provide shooting training for kids. An archery-only event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at Pelligrino’s, 6325 E. Platte Ave., Colorado Springs. For information, phone 719-227-5203.

The Limon event, 5-7 p.m. at the Community Center, will feature archery and firearms, phone 719-775-2025.
