Fort Collins firefighters and the CSU hockey team are going to head to head in a game Saturday to encourage students to drink responsibly.
Proceeds from the hockey game benefit CSU RamRide through the Sam Spady Foundation.
This is the third year the Poudre Fire Authority team and the Colorado State University have held the event, the authority said in a news release.
RamRide “provides safe, nonjudgmental rides for CSU students,” the website for the program says. Rides are offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
The Sam Spady Foundation “honors the memory of Samantha Spady, a 19-year old student at Colorado State University, who died of alcohol poisoning on Sept. 5, 2004,” according to the foundation website. The organization works to educate parents and students about the dangers of alcohol.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Edora Pool Ice Center, 1801 Riverside Ave. in Fort Collins.
Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students
The release also promises a silent auction and a fire hose tug-of-war.
