Just as Pikes Peak inspired Katharine Lee Bates to pen “America the Beautiful” in the 1890s, Colorado’s 14,110-foot mountain continues to breathe reverence into those who behold her purple majesty. Count the Colorado Springs Sky Sox among those in awe. On Wednesday, the Rockies’ Triple-A affiliate unveiled its “new look” featuring red, white and blue colors while bringing the mountain “to life . . . with the addition of menacing eyes and white cloud eyebrows that peak (sic) over” Sky Sox Baseball. No word if mascot Sox the Fox would receive a tummy tuck to go with the changes.
