COLORADO SPRINGS — Two men, including one in a New Orleans prison facing a separate murder charge, have been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man in a Colorado Springs parking lot.

Kentswan Davis, 27, and Clifford Dupree, 31, face homicide charges in the July 10, 2002, slaying of Cornelius Dowdell, 29, Colorado Springs police Lt. David Whitlock said in a news release.

Detectives from the department’s cold-case squad took up the case, in which Dowdell was shot to death in the parking lot of the Cedar Creek Club Apartments, Whitlock said.

Davis was served an arrest warrant for first-degree murder in the New Orleans Parish Prison, where he has been held since 2007 in a separate homicide case. Kirk Mitchell, The Denver Post
