A blitz of snow closed I-70 at Vail Pass overnight, but the highway reopened early this morning, as several inches of snow settled in the high country.
Chain laws are in effect for big trucks on Loveland and Vail Pass and mountain roads are icy and snowpacked.
Parts of the metro area caught a few flakes, but no significant accumulations of snow fell in Denver.
Still, a freeze warning is in effect this morning from the National Weather Service, with an anticipated high near 46. Winds may gust up to 40 mph today.
A high wind warning is in effect for the eastern plains until 6 p.m. today, with potentially damaging wind gusts as high as 60 mph.
Tonight, the blustery winds will continue, with a low around 24.
The sun will return tomorrow, with a high near 53, and warmer temperatures – in the mid- to upper-60s – for Friday and the weekend.
