Cardinals receiver Steve Breaston, right, appeared to be just a footnote to a horrific injury to Anquan Boldin. Once Boldin returned from facial surgery, Breaston is Mr. Irrelevant, right?
The Cardinals aired it out against a pass defense that stymied the Saints a week ago. More important, Boldin had nine catches, Larry Fitzgerald had seven for 115 yards and Breaston still got nine for 91 yards.
The Philadelphia Experiment rendered few clues as to who will be the No. 1 receiver for Donovan McNabb. DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis each had just three catches, although Jackson picked up nearly 30 more yards. Stay tuned.
Order now while supplies last:
Kevin Faulk is suddenly tops on the Patriots’ depth chart at running back and should stay there for another two to three weeks. Watch out — the Pats have won three of four.
Rams running back Antonio Pittman got 19 carries compared to just four by Travis Minor, who was supposed to be No. 2 behind Steven Jackson (quad). If Jackson is out for longer, Pittman wouldn’t be a big play until Week 11 against San Francisco’s sorry run defense.
Consider this on the trading market:
Cowboys running back Marion Barber has rushed for just one TD and one 100-yard game in his past five, and they both happened last week vs. St. Louis. You can’t blame everything on Brad Johnson. Barber appears to have tough sledding until Weeks 12 (vs. 49ers) and 13 (vs. Seahawks).
Falcons running back Michael Turner has rushing totals of 220, 104 and 121 to go along with six touchdowns in three games. His other four? Try 42, 56, 54 and 58 yards and zero touchdowns. The good news is he plays Denver in Week 11.
