WASHINGTON — A federal judge has dismissed one of the jurors from Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens’ corruption trial.
U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan dismissed a female juror from the trial because she had not been in contact with the court since Friday. The juror flew to California after the death of her father.
Sullivan plans to seat an alternate juror this morning and order the jury to start its deliberations over from the beginning, a setback for Stevens’ attempt to get a verdict before Election Day.
Stevens is charged with lying on Senate financial-disclosure documents.
