Getting your player ready...

If this were an ideal NFL season, the Broncos could have used one more bye week.

Running backs Selvin Young (groin) and Michael Pittman (ribs) and tight end Tony Scheffler (groin) remained iffy with their injuries as the Broncos reconvened for practice Monday afternoon at their Dove Valley headquarters.

The break was just long enough, though, for the Broncos to get back their slot receiver, Brandon Stokley.

“I feel night and day better compared to last week,” said Stokley, who missed the New England debacle and most of the Broncos’ loss to Jacksonville with a concussion. “Just looking forward to getting back on the field and playing.”

Against the Jaguars two weeks ago, the Broncos had to play most of the game without three of their top four receivers because of injuries to Eddie Royal (ankle), Stokley and Scheffler. Royal returned last week to make nine catches in a 41-7 loss to New England.

For the Broncos’ game Sunday against Miami at Invesco Field at Mile High, quarterback Jay Cutler will have Royal and Stokley back to join Brandon Marshall in his receiver stable.

Stokley has 24 catches in six games, 17 for first downs for a team-best 70.8 first-down percentage.
