A 54-year-old woman died today after the motorized wheelchair she was using to cross a busy highway was struck by a car.
Authorities say Deborah McCoul, 54, of Loveland was attempting to cross U.S. 287 at about 10:30 a.m. when she was hit by a southbound vehicle driven by Dana Farricker, 39, of Loveland
The area where she was crossing, near a Wal-Mart Supercenter, has no crosswalk or traffic signal.
She was taken to McKee Medical Center with massive injuries.
The accident remains under investigation, although Lovelad Police say neither alcohol or drugs are suspected.
No decision has been made on whether criminal charges are applicable.
