LOVELAND, Colo.—Authorities say a 54-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a car while crossing a busy highway in a motorized wheelchair.

Police say Deborah McCoul was trying to cross U.S. 287 at about 10:30 a.m. Monday when she was hit by a southbound vehicle.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The accident is under investigation.

The area where she was crossing, near a Wal-Mart Supercenter, has no crosswalk or traffic signal.

She was transported to McKee Medical Center in Loveland with massive injuries.
