REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — Redondo Beach police have arrested a man sought for three years as a suspect in the killings of two people at a Halloween party in Denver.
Rodolfo “Rudy” Gonzales, 28, was arrested under a false name Monday as police watched him in an apparent drug deal in Montebello, Calif., according to Redondo Beach police Lt. Paul Wrightsman.
Officers did not know Gonzales’ status until he brought it up during his arrest. His fingerprints confirmed he was wanted in the killings of Denver residents Teddy Guerra and Isaiah Roybal, both 21, on Oct. 30, 2005.
“We had him in custody and talked to him briefly, and he concluded the conversation saying, ‘It doesn’t really much matter because I’m wanted for murder,’ ” Wrightsman said.
“Rudy Gonzales was somebody we’ve been looking for for a significant amount of time,” Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. “If this is him, we are grateful to get him into custody.”
