The mustache of Yankees slugger Jason Giambi earned a lot of attention this year, but another New Yorker has taken top honors from the American Mustache Institute. Retired police officer Tim Galvin earned the “Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year” award during “Stache Bash 2008.” The event benefits Challenger Baseball, a league for those with developmental disabilities. Galvin won an online poll over a group that included former baseball players Goose Gossage and Keith Hernandez, Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr and one animated character — Cleveland Brown of TV’s “Family Guy.” The Associated Press
