COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Prosecutors filed first-degree murder charges against a Fort Carson soldier accused of raping and slashing the throat of a woman he met on MySpace.
Prosecutors Monday also filed sexual assault and 17 other felony charges against 21-year-old Spc. Robert Marko in the death of Judilianna “Judi” Lawrence. El Paso County sheriff’s investigators say Marko led them to Lawrence’s body west of Colorado Springs Oct. 13.
Sheriff’s officials had been searching for Lawrence for three days after her mother found messages exchanged via MySpace that her daughter would meet Marko for the first time Oct. 10, the day investigators say she died.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1.
