Former NBA star Charles Barkley, in an interview with CNN’s Campbell Brown, said 2014 will be the year that he runs for governor in his native Alabama. Brown: “You are serious.” Barkley: “I am. I can’t screw up Alabama.” Brown: “There is no place to go but up in your view?” Barkley: “We are No. 48 in everything — and Arkansas and Mississippi aren’t going anywhere.” If NBA fans have a say, Barkley would be a shoo-in, given his stance on ticket prices. “If the owners had any smarts, they’d say, ‘We’re not going to raise season tickets and we’re going to put a freeze on tickets for this year and probably next year.’ ” Denver Post wire services
