PERUGIA, Italy — An Italian judge ruled Wednesday that a U.S. college student and her former Italian boyfriend will remain jailed while awaiting trial in the killing of the woman’s British roommate.
Lawyers said Judge Paolo Micheli rejected requests by the defense to grant house arrest to Amanda Knox of Seattle and Raffaele Sollecito of Italy. They were indicted in the stabbing death of student Meredith Kercher, 21, on Nov. 2 in Perugia.
