SALT LAKE CITY — The Nuggets have picked up the option of reserve Renaldo Balkman, meaning the forward will be with the team through the 2009-10 season, agent Andre Buck confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Balkman, a gritty defender, arrived in Denver after the Nuggets acquired him in a trade from the New York Knicks over the Summer.

Through two NBA seasons, he has averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds.
