A Cedaredge man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for possessing more than 600 images of child pornography.
Thomas Eugene Taylor, 35, was the subject of a raid in June 2007 in which federal agents searched Taylor’s home and seized a laptop, three hard drives and other materials.
A forensic review of the laptop and hard drives revealed child pornography videos. Specifically, investigators found videos of sadistic or masochistic images of children under the age of 12.
In addition to the eight-year prison term, Judge Wiley Daniel, chief judge of the U.S. District Court in Denver, ordered that after Taylor serves his prison term he must serve five years of supervised release.
“A child is victimized over and over again each time their pornographic image is redistributed or shared,” said James Davis, FBI agent in charge of the Denver FBI office.
“The FBI will aggressively pursue those who choose to harm, endanger and further victimize our children,” said Davis.
Cedaredge is located about 25 miles southeast of Grand Junction, on the Western Slope.
The federal raid on Taylor’s home was conducted based on information from Taylor’s ex-girlfriend.
The case was jointly investigated by the FBI, the Newcastle Police Department, the Wyoming Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
