DENVER—Officials at one of five U.S. laboratories that test voting machines say they will work to be reinstated after federal election officials announced they plan to suspend their accreditation.

Denver-based SysTest Laboratories said in a statement Thursday it is talking with the Election Assistance Commission to get a better understanding of the suspension.

The move by the EAC will have no impact on equipment used in next week’s election because all machines have already been approved.

The EAC said Wednesday it would suspend SysTest’s accreditation because the company lost a required certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The institute cited problems with SysTest’s testing and training and its statements to manufacturers.
