Getting your player ready...

It’s been the most watched and talked-about election in decades. It’s been called the most important in our lifetime.

And, thankfully, it’s almost here.

With the election in just two days, it soon will be safe to watch TV again, or even go to your mailbox. But first we have to get through Election Day.

Typically, the Sunday before ballots are cast, we would implore you to bone up on the issues and get out there and vote. But this year, many of you have beaten us to the punch.

A record number of mail-in ballots was requested, and a healthy number of Coloradans visited early voting sites last month.

For you romantics (or maybe just procrastinators) who want to vote on the actual Election Day, we offer up this recap of The Post’s choices in many of the races or issues you’ll find on your ballot:

President: Barack Obama, D

“. . . The Post believes Barack Obama is better equipped to lead America back to a prosperous future. It’s time to change course. In unsteady times, it may seem obvious to gravitate toward the veteran politician, but in this campaign, it’s been the newcomer who has had the steady hand. . . . If Americans were only worried about foreign affairs, McCain’s stalwart service in the military and experience on the national stage would make him the more credible commander in chief. But our eyes have turned homeward and, in this hour, Obama has the eloquence and vision to bring us back together.”

U.S. Senate: Mark Udall, D

“Udall has a proven track record of bipartisan accomplishments and, we think, would best guide Colorado as it prepares to be a leader in the new (and old) energy economy.”1st Congressional District: Diana DeGette, D
