A Windsor Gardens resident was rushed to a local hospital with “significant” injuries suffered this morning in an apartment fire.

The fire broke out at about 8 a.m. at 705 S. Alton Way, said Alex Paez, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

The name of the woman was not released and details on her injuries were not available.

Firefighters contained the fire to one unit and found the woman when the entered her burning apartment.

The four-story building was evacuated because of heavy smoke and as a precautionary measure, Paez said.

Windsor Gardens is an “active adult community” serving seniors in southeast Denver.
