St. Mary’s Academy opened its doors in 1864 and Monday’s state field hockey championship was the school’s first team title. Liz Deline’s second goal of the game with 2:51 remaining in overtime gave the Wildcats the lead for good against seven-time champion Kent Denver at All-City Stadium.
Powerhouse regional:
One thing we already know about next weekend’s state volleyball tournament is that we will have a new Class 2A champion. Two-time winner Hoehne was ousted Friday night in Fountain when it lost a five-game win-or-go-home heartbreaker to Colorado Springs School.
