GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, CUBA — A lawyer for six Algerians held at this remote U.S. base say a video link will allow the terror suspects to participate in a portion of a federal court hearing this week.
Stephen Oleskey is a Boston-based attorney for the Algerian prisoners. He says a video link from Guantanamo will allow the detainees to testify in a Washington court hearing about the legality of their continued detention.
Oleskey said today the “video link from Guantanamo will allow the trial judge to view those who want to testify.” But since most of the evidence against them is classified, Oleskey says the Algerians will not be able to hear or see most of the hearing.
Guantanamo officials did not immediately provide comment.
