LAFAYETTE, Colo.—A man is dead after a fire in his motel room prompted the evacuations of eight other rooms in Lafayette.
Police say they are investigating the Friday night fire but don’t believe it was intentionally set and the Boulder County coroner’s office says the death is not considered suspicious.
The man’s name has not been released.
Other people at the Circle Motel pulled the man from the fire in his room, but he was dead by the time firefighters arrived. The fire was contained to the man’s room.
Police say it may be the first time in more than 30 years in the city that someone died because of a fire.
