DENVER—It looks like even more Coloradans will vote early this year than officials predicted.
A report from the secretary of state’s office Monday shows almost 1.6 million of the state’s 3.2 million voters have already cast ballots, either through the mail or in early voting locations.
That number is likely to grow after Monday, with a crush of ballots arriving at election offices by mail. Some 300,000 ballots that were mailed out haven’t been returned yet, meaning the total number of early votes could approach 1.9 million.
The campaigns are turning their attention now to making sure those outstanding ballots are returned. This is expected to be the first presidential election in which a majority of Colorado votes are cast in advance.
