(1) Akron (10-0) at (9) Calhan (8-2), Saturday, 1 p.m. It’s this simple — Akron rocks like Metallica. The Rams are two-time defending champions, have won 36 games in succession and have outscored the opposition this season 406-33. . . . Bulldogs, runners-up to Limon in South Central, have outscored last four foes by an aggregate 191-61.

(5) Yuma (9-1) at (4) Hotchkiss (9-1), Saturday, 1 p.m. Other than a 40-8 pasting against Akron, Yuma has whipped nine opponents by a combined 295-81. . . . The Indians’ 19-0 victory last week was their fourth shutout. . . . Ethan Coe of Hotchkiss is coming off a five-touchdown performance. Over the past six weeks, Bulldogs have put up 315 points.

(3) Limon (9-1) at (6) Wray (8-2), Saturday, 1 p.m. Like everyone else, Limon was crushed by Akron (44-7). However, other than a 21-7 decision of Burlington in Week 9, the Badgers and junior quarterback Matt Brown haven’t won by fewer than 29 points. . . . Wray dropped two of three games (to Yuma and Akron) to end the regular season, but opened the playoffs by drubbing Denver Lutheran 42-13. . . . Brady Buck is not only a great name for a quarterback. He makes the Eagles fly.

(2) Rye (10-0) at (7) Lyons (8-2), Saturday, 1 p.m. Rye has been convincing, including with five shutouts. . . . Jake Van has run for 23 touchdowns, Kenny Peterson has added 10. . . . Lyons began 2-2, but has won its past six games, including 18-17 over Paonia last week. Lions secured the Metro North by downing second-place Denver Lutheran 14-13.
