DIA set another passenger record in September, the airport reported today.
A total of 4,017,761 passengers passed through Denver International Airport in September, a 1.7 percent increase over the 3,951,172 travelers from September 2007.
Airport officials had predicted that passengers numbers would drop as airlines facing higher fuel costs cut their capacities.
Passenger traffic at DIA for the first three quarters this year was up 3.6 percent over the same time period last year. The 1.7 percent September increase followed a 1.6 percent increase year-over-year for August.
“This is exactly what we expected would happen as the airlines find ways to trim their operating costs,” Denver Aviation Manager Kim Day said in a release. “Still, our passenger numbers are ahead of last year, and that shows the strength of the Denver market.”
