COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs fire investigators say a woman killed in a house fire had been smoking while she was on oxygen, sparking the blaze that claimed her life.

The fire broke out at a condominium about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, but was out by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

Fire Department spokesman Lt. Jeff Sievers says fire crews found the body when they entered the home.

Condo owner Mary Taggs identified the victim as Bridget Finley Dunn, saying Dunn was a former homeless woman she had taken in, along with Dunn’s husband.

Taggs says she was taking the husband to a medical appointment when the fire began.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.
