DENVER—A ski industry group says a storm dropped nearly a foot and a half of new snow on two southwest Colorado resorts that plan to open later this month.
Colorado Ski Country USA says Telluride reports 16 inches of fresh snow and Silverton reports 17.
Among resorts already open for business, Arapahoe Basin reports 2 new inches, and the Loveland resort reports 3 inches.
Much of western Colorado was under a winter storm warning Wednesday.
Only vehicles with four-wheel-drive or chains were being allowed on Coal Bank and Molas passes. Red Mountain Pass closed because of accidents.
Chains were required on commercial vehicles over Loveland, Monarch, Wolf Creek and Rabbit Ears passes.
Independence Pass closed for the season Wednesday.
