The 2008 Denver Veterans Day Parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday downtown, with a tribute to immediately follow in Civic Center park. The grand marshal is Robert Hunter, president of the Denver United Veterans Council.

Many armed-forces dignitaries will pay tribute to parade marchers from the review stand, on Broadway between Colfax and 14th avenues. The parade is being organized by the city and county of Denver and the Denver United Veterans Council, Chapter 21.

During the parade — which also will start in Civic Center — some RTD bus routes downtown will be detoured between 9 a.m. and noon. For route and schedule information, call 303-299-6000 or go to RTD-Denver.com. For the speech and hearing impaired, call 303-299-6089.

The post-parade tribute includes a reading of the names of Iraq and Afghanistan war dead at the Colorado Veterans Monument. The keynote speaker is state Rep. Spencer Swalm.
