LINCOLN, Neb.—The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has approved $8.7 million in renovations to the west side of Memorial Stadium.
The project approved Friday will allow for the expansion of the Student Life Complex. Four departments would be located in the complex, including centers for Academics, Life Skills, Technology and Enrichment.
The project would also allow the Hewit Center academic areas to nearly triple in size after expanding into the now-vacated weight room, which moved to the Osborne Athletic Complex in 2006.
The Nebraska Athletic Department has launched of a fundraising campaign to pay for the project.
Construction is expected to begin in December 2009, with completion slated for August 2010.
