Getting your player ready...

In case you didn’t know it, Bronco Nation, you wanted the Chiefs to pull off that two-point conversion Sunday.

Had they done it, the Chiefs would have beaten the Chargers, just like they beat the Broncos in Week 4. Of all the Broncos’ four losses, that’s the one that could come back and haunt them on the final day of the season.

Yes, sports fans, we’re talking tie-breakers. Don’t we always when November rolls around?

The Chargers have beaten the Raiders and Chiefs, leaving them with a home game vs. Oakland and a roadie at Kansas City. If they complete the sweep of those two, it would give San Diego the tie-breaker over the Broncos if the two teams finish tied atop the AFC West.

The Broncos have a one-game lead with seven to play. Sounds good until you consider the loss to the Chiefs. That one-game lead would evaporate with a loss in the season finale at San Diego, in which case the Chargers would win the division.

The Broncoss mission, then, is simple: If the Chargers sweep the Raiders and Chiefs, Denver had better have a two-game lead going into the last game of the season.

Like I said, it’s simple. Simple to outline maybe. But not simple to pull off.
