SILVERTHORNE, Colo.—Silverthorne will continue its campaign against a bark beetle infestation next year and has identified nearly 2,300 trees it wants removed by June 15.
Town officials say the trees are infested or have already been killed. They’re on more than 320 properties.
The town identifies afflicted trees every September. Last year, officials designated more than 2,100 trees on 235 private properties.
Statewide, beetles have killed about 1.5 million acres of trees
Forest Service predicted in January that beetles will kill most of the state’s lodgepole pines within five years.
