DENVER—Storm systems are bringing snow to the western mountains and eastern plains, but only light snow and showers to the Denver metro area.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for parts of the eastern plains, including northern Elbert, Washington, Phillips and Yuma counties. Forecasters say the plans could get up to 8 inches of snow in some spots.

A winter weather advisory has also been issued for the western and central mountains, including the Gore, Elk and Sawatch ranges. Cities covered by the advisory include Aspen, Snowmass, Vail and Crested Butte.

Snow is expected to keep falling overnight.
