The state’s lakes might not be frozen over just yet, but the water is undoubtedly cold enough for a “polar plunge.”
Jump in this Saturday, when Special Olympics Colorado holds its own version of the wintertime rite at Chatfield Reservoir in Littleton.
Raise pledge money before the plunge to receive a “Freezin’ for a Reason” beanie hat, which should come in handy after returning to shore. The pledge minimum to receive the hat is $75, but don’t stop there, because there are more prizes to be had in various categories, from pledges raised to best costume.
Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Colorado, which provides year-round training in 20 sports for more than 8,500 disabled and special-needs athletes.
Do it: For registration and pledge forms, go to or call 303-592-1361.
