A 2-year-old child died in a car accident Friday after she was backed over in a driveway, police said.
The accident happened at about 11:40 a.m. in the 4500 block of Abilene Street, said Sonny Jackson, a Denver police spokesman.
The child, who was struck by a Ford van, was rushed by adults at the scene to a nearby firehouse and then to Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Denver coroner’s office ruled the death an accident.
An investigation into the death by the Denver Police Department’s traffic-investigation unit is ongoing, Jackson said.
