Dave Gerhardt of Durango narrowly missed earning a berth in the upcoming 2009 Bassmasters Classic. Competing in an amateur qualifying series, Gerhardt finished sixth in last weekend’s event in Junction City, Kan., a result that left him runner-up in the Western Division final standings — one spot out of Classic qualifying. Gerhardt earned $1,500 for his finish in a series won by Jay Evans of Corvallis, Mont.
