Several inches of snow fell on the plains and in the high country overnight, but the dusting that was forecast for Denver did not materialize.
Instead metro drivers found mostly dry roads with some patchy fog, which burned off as the sun warmed the metro area up to a high of near 52 degrees today.
In the mountains, icy, snowpacked roads led the Colorado Department of Transportation to call for chain restrictions for commercial vehicles on many mountain passes, including Vail, Loveland and the Eisenhower Tunnel. Most of those restrictions were dropped by mid-morning.
Wolf Creek Ski Resort reported 4 inches of snow in the past 24 hours. Loveland reported 3, and Arapahoe Basin just 1 inch.
Tonight’s metro low will be 32, and Wednesday’s weather will be warmer and clearer, with a high near 56.
Thursday will top it, with a high near 58, then another round of potential rain and snow for Denver will arrive Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday and Saturday will see temperatures in the low 50s, and Sunday could bring us back into the 60s.
