A 67-year-old man arrested on assault and other charges collapsed in an El Paso County holding cell Monday and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Bruce Howard, according to a department release.
Howard was awaiting an afternoon court appearance when he collapsed at about 12:39 p.m. Monday.
He was arrested Friday night by the Fountain Police Department and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on suspicion of third-degree assault, harassment and obstruction of telephone-telegraph service.
