A Wisconsin man is under investigation after he allegedly shot and killed a chocolate labrador last week while hunting near Edwards, authorities say.
Lee Jensen shot the dog claiming that he feared for his life while on a hunting trip near West Lake Creek on Nov. 5, said Shannon Cordingly, spokesperson for the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department.
He faces charges of criminal mischief and recklessly discharging a firearm, Cordingly said.
Nathan Schroepfer was hiking up Lake Creek Trail with his roommate’s dog. The dog had a stick in its mouth and was about 15 feet from the trail when it was shot, Cordingly said.
