LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska linebacker Cody Glenn has been suspended indefinitely from the team for violating team rules.
Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said he would have no further comment on the matter. He walked past reporters without speaking after practice Tuesday, and defensive coordinator Carl Pelini declined to answer questions.
“We’re not commenting on that situation just for the privacy of the young man,” Carl Pelini said. “It’s a violation of team rules and it’s going to be kept in-house.”
Attempts to reach Glenn through family members were unsuccessful, and a personal phone number wasn’t listed. His uncle, former Nebraska All-America linebacker Broderick Thomas, said from Houston that he knew about the suspension but not the reasons for it.
Neither the Lincoln Police Department nor campus police had reports of any arrest.
Glenn is the Cornhuskers’ third-leading tackler, with 51 stops. He has six tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries and four pass breakups.
He made four tackles in last week’s 45-35 win over Kansas.
The senior from Rusk, Texas, played running back before moving to linebacker this season.
Glenn has spent most of the season playing weakside linebacker, but he moved to the middle for the Kansas game.
The loss of Glenn further thins the Huskers at linebacker. Phillip Dillard, who has played eight games at middle linebacker, has missed the past two games with an ankle injury and is questionable for Saturday’s game at Kansas State.
Carl Pelini said Blake Lawrence probably would see more playing time in Glenn’s absence.
“Blake Lawrence did a heck of a job in there against Kansas and we’ve got other guys,” he said. “I feel confident our linebacker play is going to be just fine.”
