COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—An preliminary autopsy on the body of a 67-year-old inmate at the El Paso County jail has failed to determine how the man died.
The sheriff’s department says Bruce Howard was in a holding cell awaiting a court appearance on Monday when he collapsed.
Howard had been arrested Friday night in Fountain on suspicion of assault, harassment and obstruction of telephone or telegraph service.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Lt. Lari Sevene says an autopsy was inconclusive, and that the coroner’s office is awaiting results from toxicology tests.
