The Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado has received Charity Navigator’s coveted four-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances. This is the highest rating awarded by Charity Navigator, a charity evaluator.

The city of Aurora was named the most technologically advanced city in America for the second year in a row, according to the Center for Digital Government. The city’s information technology staff was honored for its outstanding achievement at the National League of Cities convention.

Humana Inc. introduced a program to help small businesses in Colorado motivate their employees to make healthy decisions. The Humana Rewards program is available to employer groups with two to 99 employees in Colorado at no additional charge beginning Jan. 1.

Colorado Foundation for Families and Children has changed its name to The Partnership for Families and Children. The nonprofit is dedicated to children and family issues.

The Small Business Administration is accepting nominations for its 2009 Colorado Small Business Week Awards, including the Small Business Person of the Year award. United Western Bancorp Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of 6 cents per share on the company’s common stock, payable Dec. 15 to stockholders of record Dec. 5.

Kohl’s Department Stores presented Children’s Hospital a check for $387,162. Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $2.25 million, which has provided funding for the Kohl’s Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Campaign.

The Colorado Department of Human Services’ Colorado Works Division recently signed a contract with the Bawmann Group to continue the implementation of the Be There for Your Kids public-awareness campaign for the Colorado Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Initiative.

The Lakewood Housing Authority won a national award honoring superior assisted-housing and community-development programs from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. The LHA won in the Project Design category for the Residences at Creekside.
