CLASS 4A
QUARTERFINALS
Spartans roll
Greeley West, champion of the Northern League, earned a tough road victory Saturday, 22-8 at Montrose in the Class 4A quarterfinals.
The Spartans will take an 11-1 record into next weekend’s semifinals, when they host undefeated Pine Creek at District 6 Stadium.
CLASS 3A
QUARTERFINALS
Road seeds win
Brady Bullock’s recovery of a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown and three field goals by Maxwell Svobodny were enough for Mountain View to win 16-7 at Pueblo County’s Hornets Nest.
The defensive slugfest generated only a combined 409 yards of offense, but the Mountain Lions will take an 11-1 record into the semifinals at Glenwood Springs.
In Frisco, second-seeded Fort Morgan improved to 12-0 by downing Summit 21-3. The Mustangs next host D’Evelyn.
CLASS 2A
QUARTERFINALS
Huskies hold on
In Bailey, top-seeded Platte Canyon overcame a rash of turnovers to hold off Pagosa Springs 30-26. Dillon Whisman’s 36-yard scoring run provided the winning points.
Platte Canyon improved to 12-0 behind 372 yards rushing, 223 by Whisman. A.J. Melillo added 142 and scored two touchdowns.
Next up: at Erie, which downed Florence 35-10.
In Arvada, Micah Twedell threw for three touchdowns and Craig Schultz rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown as Faith Christian (12-0) used a big second half to beat Brush 36-22. Faith Christian will be at Olathe in the semifinals.
CLASS 1A SEMIFINALS
Rams still rockin’
Akron earned its seventh shutout in 2008 in downing Yuma 28-0, a North Central League rematch the Rams won 40-8 during the regular season.
Akron, the two-time defending champion, is 12-0 and has won 38 games in a row.
The Rams’ opponent in the final, Wray, also won in a shutout, 27-0 over previously undefeated Rye. The Rams defeated Wray 26-0 to end the regular season.
CLASS A 8-MAN
SEMIFINALS

Seriously, didn’t you think it would be another Dayspring Christian-Merino final?
Dayspring Christian beat Hoehne 40-24, and Merino, the defending champion, handled Caliche 24-6.
