LINCOLN, Neb.—Both of Nebraska’s backup quarterbacks saw action at the end of the Huskers’ 56-28 win over Kansas State last weekend.
But fans shouldn’t dissect the performances of Patrick Witt and Zac Lee too much. Nebraska coach Bo Pelini says when Witt and Lee entered the game, the Huskers were trying to run out the clock to seal the victory.
Pelini says it’s hard to evaluate a quarterback in that kind of situation.
He says the competition for the number-two slot on the depth chart has gone back and forth a bit between Witt, who is a redshirt freshman, and Lee, who is a sophomore.
Pelini says Nebraska’s coaches think both Lee and Witt are very capable, good players.
