Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has engaged three prominent lawyers — Cheryl Mills, David Kendall and Robert Barnett — to work with the Obama transition team to review information about the Clintons’ background and finances to vet her candidacy for secretary of state. Also Tuesday, Clinton was offered an alternative to the State post — senior member of the Senate team aiming to reform the nation’s health- care system. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., asked Clinton to head a working group focused on insurance coverage.
Clinton declined to comment on either post.
