Getting your player ready...

Nuggets guard Chucky Atkins will give it a go tonight and attempt to play against Milwaukee for his first game this season.

Atkins had knee surgery Sept. 24 and has missed training camp and the first 10 games. Atkins’ surgery was on injuries from last season, and he has yet to play extensive time since joining the Nuggets before the 2007-08 season, when he was then signed to start at point guard.

Atkins, 34, will battle for backcourt time with Anthony Carter, who was the starter until the acquisition of Chauncey Billups this month. Atkins averages 10.6 points per game in his career.

The Nuggets (6-4) host Milwaukee (5-6) tonight at 7.

Bucks without scorers

The Nuggets have caught a break — actually two – entering tonight’s home game. Two Bucks double-digit scorers are out with injuries.

Michael Redd, the Olympian and Bucks leader with 21.3 points per game, won’t play against Denver because of to a right ankle sprain. And Charlie Villanueva (10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds) is doubtful (left hamstring sprain—, coach Scott Skiles said at morning shootaround.

“I don’t think either guy will go,” Skiles said.
