Colorado author EllynAnne Geisel is encouraging the beginning of a new Thanksgiving tradition while honoring the apron as a symbol of home, family and mothering. She is one of the backers of “National Tie One On Day,” which this year marks its third anniversary. Celebrated the night before Thanksgiving, this new tradition asks people to pause in preparation of their seasonal meal, wrap a loaf of bread or other baked good in an apron, and tuck a prayer or note of encouragement in the apron pocket. Then, deliver the bundle to a neighbor or friend, says Geisel, author of “The Apron Book: Making, Wearing and Sharing a Bit of Cloth and Comfort and Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Every Day.” For details visit apronicity and .
